The phenomenon of delayed motherhood
A woman’s decision to postpone the birth of a child to a later date, usually after the age of 30 or even 35. Postponing pregnancy is not directly related to a simple refusal or lack of desire to have children: various factors of an economic and social nature have an impact: the system of public labor, modern conditions and types of employment (both for women and men), the duration of education and its cost, the value potential and baggage of partners, as well as the features of interpersonal communication in modern society, and changes in the model of family relations. In this situation, assisted reproductive technologies become especially relevant, since from a medical point of view, fertility is related to the age of a woman and the state of her body: as a woman postpones childbearing, the chances of giving birth decrease both due to a natural decrease in the number of oocytes and due to concomitant diseases.
