The Principle of Forecasting in Child Neuropsychology

One of the principles of neuropsychological diagnosis and correction, which consists in identifying and predicting disorders of the child’s mental development on the basis of an analysis of the brain organization of mental processes. This allows:
1) To differentiate learning and behavior difficulties due to insufficient formation of brain structures from disadaptation associated with improper pedagogical influence or with pathocharacterological characteristics of the child’s personality.
2) Predict the extent to which individual information processing characteristics will affect the development of mental functions and learning.
3) To identify the zone of proximal development of the tested function and other functions with which it has common links.
This principle emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis programs in educational institutions aimed at assessing higher mental functions using specific and accurate assessment tools appropriate to the age and level of development of the child.
