The Psychology of Disasters

a branch of psychology that studies the reactions of individuals and groups to disasters, as well as the psychological and social factors that affect adaptation and recovery.
The main tasks of disaster psychology are:
1) Understanding psychological reactions: fear, shock, anxiety, anger or a sense of helplessness.
2) Analysis of social behavior: cooperation, collective panic, aggressive or irresponsible behavior.
3) Development of psychological intervention strategies: psychological support programs, psychological first aid and resilience training.
4) Emergency planning: developing policies and procedures to reduce the impact of disasters on mental health and society.
