The relationship between threat, loss and social support
patterns that stand out in the case of experiencing a threat and loss. The stronger and more accessible social support, the less the impact of experiencing threat and loss on a person in terms of:
1) anxiety and stress;
2) feelings of helplessness or loss of control;
3) the likelihood of depression or social isolation.
The opposite is also true: the lack of social support increases the severity of the psychological impact of experiencing threat and loss.
