The role of the personal factor in politics
It is determined by the influence of individual characteristics: values, beliefs, emotions and cognitive abilities on the formation of political behavior and decision-making. Personal qualities are the basis of the political potential of a leader. However, the role of the personal factor in politics has different approaches:
1) Supporters of one approach assign a decisive role to the individual, substantiate it by the personal merits of leaders: political talent, abilities, knowledge, skills, personal authority.
2) Supporters of the other approach belittle the role of the individual in politics, believe that individual characteristics “extinguish” each other in large-scale political processes.
