The Significance of Learned Helplessness in Environmental and Social Psychology
Those points that can be explained by the phenomenon of learned helplessness are:
1) Understanding adaptation to the environment – explains why some people do not try to improve their environment or change circumstances, even if it is possible.
2) Explains some negative forms of behavior – social isolation, lack of initiative and unwillingness to participate in social decisions.
3) Therapeutic interventions and environmental design – creating a supportive environment, removing obstacles, and providing opportunities for success to increase self-control and personal effectiveness.
