Theory of realistic group conflict

A theory that holds that prejudice arises from competition between groups for limited resources. The cause of intergroup clashes is the conflict of their interests in the face of competition for limited resources, while it is enough for one side to consider the other a rival to start a conflict. According to this theory, positive relations between groups can be restored only if they set themselves higher goals.
This model was developed by the American psychologist and sociologist Donald Campbell.
