a parasitic disease caused by a parasite (Toxoplasmagondii), which has the appearance of a crescent, belongs to the type of protozoa (type Protozoa). Human infection can occur from domestic animals (dogs, cats, pigs, rabbits, chickens, pigeons, etc.), as well as wild animals (hares, ground squirrels, mouse-like rodents, etc.). There are two forms of tuberculosis: congenital and acquired. In congenital tuberculosis, parasites enter the fetus from the mother’s body and can cause lesions of varying severity, including fetal death and the death of the child in the first months of life. Clinical manifestations of congenital tuberculosis may also occur in subsequent periods of the child’s life (hydrocephalus or microcephaly, damage to the organ of vision, convulsions, and retardation in physical and mental development). Several forms of acquired t. are distinguished: a typhoid-like state; enlargement of the glands, more often cervical, with an increase in temperature to 38 – 40 °; the cerebrospinal form of cerebral inflammation, which occurs in the form of acute inflammation of the brain, its membranes, and spinal cord; ocular form. Tuberculosis is one of the factors underlying oligophrenia and various congenital disorders.
