Variable Ratio Reinforcement Mode
A type of intermittent reinforcement, which is a mode of reinforcement in which reinforcement is carried out after a certain number of reactions that are not known in advance. An example would be gambling, in which winning (reinforcement) is unpredictable and inconsistent. Such a reinforcement mode contributes to the development of an extremely stable behavioral response and its slow extinction, since the person does not know exactly when he will receive the next reinforcement.
