Visual, auditory and tactile perception disorders
Difficulty interpreting sensory information coming from the eyes, ears, or skin, leading to impaired attention, learning, and fine motor skills. For example, a child may have difficulty distinguishing shapes or sounds, as well as consistently using the senses to perform everyday tasks such as writing, drawing, or using tools. This disorder is often associated with sensory processing problems in the cerebral cortex or neural networks that integrate different senses, leading to difficulties in learning, adapting to the environment, and organizing movements. Correction includes sensory integration programs, fine motor skills training, and improvement of sensory processing strategies to support the child’s overall functioning.
