is a person’s awareness of his belonging to a certain political system, organization or group, which further forms stable models of perception and behavior in the political sphere. Political self-consciousness, being an integral part of political consciousness (see Political consciousness in Chapter 1.16 Key Psychological Concepts in Political Psychology), includes three main components:<\/x>1) Political identity \u2013 expresses a person’s awareness of his role and status in the political system, perception of himself as a participant in the political process. This includes knowledge of political institutions, ideas about one’s own capabilities, functions and responsibilities in socio-political life.<\/x>2) Political feelings \u2013 form an emotional and psychological attitude to politics, create a person’s inner involvement and a certain level of political sensitivity, which affects the degree of activity in the political sphere.<\/x>3) Assessment of one’s own political qualities \u2013 a person comprehends his abilities, prospects and results in political activity, analyzes strengths and weaknesses, and also determines his role in the socio-political space.<\/x>Political self-consciousness contributes to the integration of the individual into public and political life, forms him as an active subject of civil society.
