Zones of regional influence
A central concept of environmental psychology and social behavioral science, it refers to the natural or acquired ability of an individual or group to control or influence a particular area of the physical or social environment, the tendency of individuals or groups to dominate a particular area, to establish certain rules and patterns of behavior, and to feel power or control over that area. It is seen as a mechanism for regulating social interaction and reducing conflict in crowded or shared environments.
