Biofeedback (BFB)

A therapeutic and psychomedical method based on the use of specialized electronic devices and devices that measure physiological indicators of the body, such as heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, muscle tension or electrodermal activity, and instantly display these indicators in visual or audible form to the patient. The purpose of this process is to increase a person’s awareness of involuntary bodily functions and teach them to voluntarily control them through relaxation techniques, deep breathing, or the reorganization of thoughts and emotions. This method is widely used in the treatment of psychosomatic disorders such as migraine, stress hypertension and anxiety disorders. Its effectiveness is based on the idea that direct awareness of bodily reactions allows a person to correct them and reduce tension, which contributes to psychosomatic balance and limits the exacerbation of symptoms of the disease.
