Aspects of self-assessment of road traffic skills
Key features included in the road skills assessment:
1) Realistic skills assessment – the ability to assess the actual ability to drive a vehicle, knowledge of traffic rules and attention to changing conditions.
2) Self-confidence – belief in one’s ability to cope with difficult or emergency situations, including abrupt maneuvers and interaction with the behavior of other people.
3) Risk awareness – the ability to be aware of the limits of one’s skills and to distinguish between what can be handled safely and what requires caution.
4) Adaptation – changing behavior on the road based on self-esteem, for example, driving more carefully when tired or difficult road conditions.
