Aspects of teaching the rules of the road
A number of interrelated aspects of learning that are important for road
safety 1) Cognitive learning: includes gaining knowledge of traffic rules, road signs, road markings and understanding of general safety rules, and enables drivers to interpret complex road situations, assess risks and make informed decisions based on an accurate assessment of the situation.
2) Motor or skill training: Developing practical driving skills such as vehicle control, braking, steering, distance estimation, and maneuvering accurately in different situations.
3) Emotional and Behavioral Learning: Developing the ability to control emotions while driving, such as anger or anxiety, and applying preventive behaviors, such as maintaining a safe distance and enforcing the legal speed limit. Also, this type of training improves self-control, which reduces aggression and risk appetite and increases rational reactions in emergency situations.
4) Predictive learning: the ability to anticipate the behavior of other road users, such as vehicles and pedestrians, and plan future maneuvers to avoid potential hazards.
