A charitable organization founded in 1969 to continue the work begun by Michael and Enid Balint (see Balint Group in Chapter 2.1 “Key Psychological Terms in Clinical Psychology”). Initially focused on supporting the activities of general practitioners, the modern Balinta Society actively interacts with a wide range of specialists in the field of health and social care. The society is registered as a charitable organization and is funded by membership fees, events and voluntary donations. The current management is handled by the Council of the Balinta Society, which reports to the members at the annual general meeting. The international branches of the Balint Society are members of the International Balint Federation.
