Bernstein, Nikolai Alexandrovich (1896–1966)
Soviet psychophysiologist, creator of the theory of physiology of activity. He studied the mechanisms of movement organization. He introduced the concept of the “reflex ring” (the principle of feedback), which replaced the classical concept of the “reflex arc”. His ideas were ahead of their time and formed the basis of many modern developments in robotics and biomechanics.
