Taylor, Frederick Winslow (1856–1915)
American engineer, founder of the scientific organization of labor and management (Taylorism). His approach differed from traditional management, which was intuitive and dependent on the personal experience of the managers. Key ideas:
1) Division of labor – work should be divided into small, well-defined tasks to make them easier.
2) Workflow Study – Taylor used timekeeping and task analysis to determine the best ways to get the job done.
3) Labor rationing – each task should have a set standard of time and volume of performance, which allows you to assess the productivity of employees.
4) Training and Recruitment – Workers must be trained to perform their tasks in the best possible way.
5) Material incentives – Taylor proposed a performance-based pay system: workers who exceed the quotas should receive bonuses.
