Elkonin, Daniil Borisovich (1904–1984)
Soviet psychologist, student of Vygotsky and Leontiev. He is the creator of the theory of periodization of the child’s mental development, based on the concept of “leading activity”. He divided age periods into epochs in which either the emotional-motivational sphere (communication) or the operational-technical (objective activity) prevails.
