Ergorehabilitation (Ergotherapy) in Psychology

A field that uses purposeful activity and occupational therapy to restore or improve the functional capabilities of patients who have difficulty in their daily lives due to mental illness or disorders. It aims to increase the independence, self-care and quality of life of patients through participation in various activities that are important to them. A distinctive feature of occupational therapy is its interdisciplinarity, since it uses knowledge of several disciplines – pedagogy, psychology, social pedagogy, biomechanics, physical therapy. Another feature of this method of rehabilitation is that it is carried out in the conditions of the client’s natural environment (home, children’s institution, work, etc.). There is a World Federation of Occupational Therapists with more than 100 member countries (see World Federation of Occupational Therapists in Chapter 5 Famous Scientists, Their Scientific Schools and Organizations in Psychological Science).
