Fyodor Vasilyuk (1954–2017)

The Russian scientist, psychologist, made a major contribution to the psychology of experience, the psychology of post-traumatic stress. Theory and discovery: Vasylyuk studied the processes of experiencing and overcoming crisis situations, developed a theory of psychological defenses and coping mechanisms. Significance of the works: Vasilyuk’s works contributed to the understanding of the processes of experiencing and overcoming psychological traumas, as well as the development of methods of psychological assistance in crisis situations. His research has influenced the development of stress psychology and crisis psychology.
