Joy Paul Guilford (1897–1987)
American psychologist. He is widely known as the creator of the model of the structure of intelligence. Guilford was engaged in research on intelligence in terms of memory, thinking, attention (concentration of attention), creativity and temperament. In 1959, Guilford proposed a cubic model of the structure of intelligence. It postulates that the basis of the structure of intelligence is independent factors, or intellectual abilities, each of which can be described on the basis of three dimensions – operations, content and results.
