Kurt Koffka (1886–1941)

German-American psychologist. Together with Max Wertheimer and Wolfgang Köhler, he is considered one of the founders of Gestalt psychology. At the same time, he was close to the Soviet researchers of Vygotsky’s circle, with whom he was personally acquainted and took part in joint research projects. In his work “Fundamentals of Mental Development” (1921) he applied the methods of Gestalt psychology to the study of the mental development of the child. Koffka’s main work is “Principles of Gestalt Psychology” (1935).
