Melanie Klein (1882–1960)
British psychoanalyst, along with Anna Freud, is the founder of child psychoanalysis. She was one of the originators of play psychoanalytic therapy, developed the theory of object relations. One of Klein’s most important ideas is that aggression and love are the fundamental organizing forces of the psyche. Aggression splits the psyche, while love “cements” it. Klein psychoanalysis is the only neo-Freudian school that accepts the existence of the death drive.
