Model of cognitive-risky behavior

a model that assumes that the driver’s behavior while driving is largely determined by cognitive and psychological functions related to risk perception and assessment. A driver’s decisions while driving are based not only on environmental factors or skills, but also on his mental interpretation of the probability of risk and his self-perception of his ability to cope with it. Incorrect risk assessment or overconfidence can increase the likelihood of risky behaviour, while a realistic and balanced perception helps the driver to adopt safer behaviour.
