Swiss psychologist and epistemologist, founder of genetic epistemology and the theory of cognitive development. He proposed a theory of stages of intellectual development of a child (sensorimotor, preoperational, stage of concrete and formal operations). He showed that the thinking of children is qualitatively different from the thinking of adults.
