Simonton’s model of interaction between oncology and psychosomatic disorders
A comprehensive concept that combines psychological and somatic understanding of chronic diseases. It was proposed by Carl Simonton and Stephen Simonton to understand the influence of psychological factors on the onset and progression of tumors, as well as on a wide range of psychosomatic disorders. The model is based on the assumption that internal psychological interactions, including repressed emotions, psychological conflicts, and chronic stress, can affect the body’s physiological functions and weaken the immune system, contributing to the development of chronic diseases such as tumors and stress-related somatic disorders.
