Thomas-Chess Temperament Questionnaire

A method for diagnosing behavioral manifestations of temperament in young children (3-7 years old), designed to be filled in by parents or persons replacing them. It is based on research by Thomas and Chess (1977) and includes 72 questions assessing nine aspects of temperament: activity, rhythmicity, approach-avoidance, adaptability, reaction intensity, sensitivity threshold, mood quality, distractibility, and attentional persistence/endurance. In this method, temperament is defined as a style of behavior that reflects the manner of the child’s reaction and adaptation to the environment.
