Ukhtomsky, Alexei Alekseevich (1875–1942)
Russian and Soviet physiologist, creator of the doctrine of the dominant. Ukhtomsky’s main discovery is considered to be the principle of dominance developed by him – a theory capable of explaining some fundamental aspects of human behavior and mental processes. The principle of the dominant is described by Ukhtomsky in his work “The Dominant as a Working Principle of Nerve Centers”.
